Ace owner Mark Wilsmore
THE ACE CAFE is without a doubt the UKs most well known bikers haunt on the North circular in London, steeped in history and nostalgia, resurected back to a bikers haunt in early 90s after being closed down in 1969.
Mark Wilsmore took the initiative and turned it back into what it is today and deserves a knighthood, Sir Mark Wilsmore, sounds good eh!There is always something happening, its a good happening place especially at weekends.Anyway the food is wicked,if you get there for around 10am or earlier you may not have to que for a brekky.
All the info on its past is portrayed on the walls and the famous 59 club started there would you believe in 1959 by a vicar.
On the first and third sunday of the month Kensal Green cemetary has some spooky catacombs which they open to the public. guided tours cost around a fiver and a great way to get rid of your breakfast, only kiddin!.Its about 4 miles away, Mark or one of the lads will give you directions and its well worth a visit.
3000 approx dead bodies(hopefully) have been laid to rest since about 1830,the guide gives you a good discription of whats what, and you can still get buried down there, its the only place in Europe like it. Hammer films used to use the cemetary for one of its locations for filming Dracula and the like, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price, Christopher Lee have all graced the steps down to the catacombs,
An amazing place you can be in the hustle and bustle of city life and within seconds the peace and tranquility and deathly quiet of Kensal Green.
Sometime in September the Hearse of the Year show happens, its wild try it!!!!.
We used to organise trips down to the Ace taking in the catacombs but were too busy this end to do it now, its 90 minutes from Leicester non stop.
